Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I created our team, Marty's Minions, in memory of my dad, Martin Lipson. He passed passed away a year ago, on April 27, 2020, after battling this unforgiving disease. Although he is no longer with us, I think of him everyday. Not one to just sit around, my dad was always very active. He enjoyed his daily morning run, which with age, turned into his morning walk, until ultimately his body began to give out on him, and he could no longer walk on his own. Now, I am walking to honor him, and all of those affected by this disease. I am walking to ensure no ever hears the words: You Have ALS, again.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.

But, we can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
